At Ice Kitchen, we harness the power of freezing to lock in freshness and create easy-to-use, flavour-packed, all-natural cooking pastes.

Replacing those half-used jars at the back of the fridge and using highly efficient production processes means we are making significant strides in our goal of eliminating food waste.

It’s been quite a journey to get to this point. Here’s OUR STORY so far:

Before March 2020, Ice Kitchen created artisanal ice-lollies that were a hit with customers due to their all-natural ingredients, exciting flavours, and general deliciousness. Once COVID hit and venues closed their doors, we spotted a new opportunity. With creative mindsets and time on our hands, we began experimenting in our own kitchens and brainstorming ideas that would preserve Ice Kitchen’s core values: innovation in frozen products and a commitment to all-natural fresh flavours.

Founder Cesar Roden, a trained chef, had been freezing freshly made curry pastes at home to use as the basis for future meals. This meant no more jars of ambient paste lingering at the back of the fridge until they had gone mouldy and had to be thrown out. We knew our pastes could create restaurant quality meals at a fraction of the expense, time and effort. Repurposing our ice-lolly machines to blend and freeze fresh curry pastes on lolly sticks, we launched our Thai Red, Thai Green and Massaman pastes on Ocado. We also added two more Ice Kitchen values: a determination to reduce food waste and the conviction that we could make mealtimes easier for people who care about creating adventurous, quality, crowd-pleasing meals but lack the time to cook from scratch.

Since then, our small, inventive team has created five exciting new pastes: Thai Panang, Indian Jalfrezi, Mexican Fajita, Mexican Smoky Barbecue Fajita, and Jamaican Jerk. Each paste is authentic, boldly flavourful, and made with top-quality, fresh ingredients in our small north London factory. The lolly sticks are gone, and each paste now comes perfectly portioned in fully recyclable pots (themselves 100% recycled) and packaging.

These are now available right here on our Web Shop and on Ocado, and we launch in 280 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide in April 2025.
